Many times we resolve to remove things from our lives only to find that the harder we try to give up the things in our lives that we know should not be there,
the more we fail in our own strength to give them up.  God has shown me that He will remove the worldly "treasures" we hold in our hearts, if we truly want
to release them to Him and be rid of them.  The following poem shows us why we must allow Him to remove these things from our lives.

 TREASURES

One by one God took them from me,
All the things I valued most,
Until I was empty-handed,
Every glittering toy was lost.

 And I walked earth's highway
grieving,
In my rags and poverty,
Till I heard His voice inviting,
"Lift your empty hands to me!"

So I turned my hands toward heaven,
And He filled them with a store
Of His own transcendent riches
Until they could hold no more.

And at last I comprehended
With my stupid mind and dull,
That God can never pour His
riches
Into hands already full.
